There is no registration fee for this course for UC staff. Travel expenses, including meals not included in the seminar, are the responsibility of the attendee or the attendee’s home department.

The campus is approximately 20 miles from the Ontario International Airport (ONT).

UC Riverside EH&S Building Directions
PARKING
Follow signs to park in Lot 20. Before arriving, please stop by Parking Services to obtain permit reciprocity (located at 683 Linden St, Riverside, CA right next to the EH&S building). Show your UC parking permit, and let them know you are planning to go to parking Lot 20 (right in front of the EH&S building on Pentland Way). For more information about parking permit reciprocity visit http://parking.ucr.edu/visitor/permits.html (under “Faculty/Staff” tab).
Visitors can also purchase a $9 parking permit (daily red) from the dispenser.
HOTEL
The historic Mission Inn Hotel is located less than 3 miles to the west of campus, and is our recommended hotel of choice. When calling (951) 784-0300 let them know you are eligible for the daily "UCR Rate" of $119 per person (per night). Daily parking fee is for registered guests or for valet.
The Courtyard by Marriott Riverside is located about 0.5 miles to the west of campus. When calling (951) 276-1200 let them know you are eligible for the daily "UCR Rate" of $109 per person. There is no daily parking fee.

Guest accounts are available to connect to our wireless network on campus. If your campus participates in EDUROAM you can use your campus credentials to login.
Program
The Pesticide Employee Safety Training (PEST) program grants UC equivalent certification for pesticide handlers without a QAC or equivalent license from California Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR) for work on any UC campus. The program consists of two parts:

ONLINE TRAINING
Length: 2 hours Course Code: UCLOL0076A
Overview of safe use of pesticides. Topics include: laws & regulations, pesticide management, hazards, protection, emergencies, equipment and supervisor roles & responsibilities. For more information refer to the Training Resources webpage.
- Fieldworker training. This course meets DPR requirements (3CCR 6764)
- Handler training. This course meets Part 1 of 2 courses required to meet DPR requirements (3CCR 6724)

Is the training online?
Yes there is an online training available in pesticide safety. But to meet all requirements, people need to complete that plus the workshop.

How often will the workshop be offered?
Hopefully twice per year, between northern California and southern California campuses.

We understand the UC Integrated Pest Management Policy is in draft state, and the Systemwide Pesticide Oversight Committee (SPOC) is meeting shortly to revisit the comments and potentially redistribute.

Which EH&S program may benefit from this training?
The Pesticide Employee Safety Training (PEST) is geared towards pesticide applicators; however, the information and details may be beneficial for EH&S professionals in Chemical Safety, IH, OS, and Environmental Programs; amongst others. All individuals involved in IPM in any way will find value in the training.
