L-240 Measurements for Laser Safety Course

This is a 3-day course in laser output measurements tailored to meet the specific needs of laser safety. The course will focus on workshop exercises that are designed to make maximum use of laser output measurement equipment in solving real-world laser measurement problems. The ANSI Z136.1 Standard For the Safe Use of Lasers and FDA/CDRH Laser Product Performance Standards and IEC 60825-1 and -2 and EN 60825-1 will be the basis of measurement requirements presented in the course.

Course Credits:
AAHP has awarded this course 20 CEC (2017-00-097). ABIH has previously awarded CM credit for this event. The current event contains 20 hours which can be claimed for 3.34 CM Credit. This course is eligible for 2 Recertification points BCSP Category 7. The BLS has awarded this course 2.5 CM points (106-34501).

UCOP will cover registration fees for up to 16 UC participants.  Travel expenses, including meals not included in the seminar, are the responsibility of the attendee or the attendee’s home department.

AIRPORT
From San Jose Airport: Take Interstate 880 which becomes Highway 17 south to Santa Cruz, then Highway 1 north.

DIRECTIONS
Once you're in Santa Cruz on Highway 1 north, continue as it becomes Mission Street through town. Turn right on Bay Street and follow it to the campus entrance. (Campus Maps and Directions)

PARKING
Please park at Core West garage and exit the garage on the second floor at Steinhart Way and walk to the right.  The Thimann building will be on the left.  Parking will cost $30 per person for 3 days.  More Information

One-Day temporary permits cost $10.00.  Visitors may purchase a temporary 1-Day permit from the Main Entrance Kiosk located on Coolidge Drive, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.  A map of both locations is available here.
